Fresh off back-to-back wins, Hannah Green entered this weekend’s Australian WPGA Championship under plenty of pressure.

But she has shown no signs of it so far, with the Australian in a strong position to add another trophy to her cabinet with a two-stroke lead at the end of the third round on Saturday.
Green entered the event ranked No.7 in the world, just two away from her career-high ranking of five, and hit four-under to finish the day 14-under, two strokes ahead of both Switzerland’s Vanessa Knecht and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander.
It was a largely faultless front nine from Green, who had one bogey on the second hole, but otherwise mixed in four birdies to maintain her lead. Green had another two bogeys to close out the day on the back nine, but added three birdies to match her second-round 67.
Green is in stellar form as of late, having last week ended a 12-year wait for a local player to win at the Australian Open.
That followed her seventh LPGA Tour title victory in Singapore and after becoming Australia’s first woman since Karrie Webb to win the home Open, Green is on the verge of taking home the Cup named after the seven-time major champion.
Speaking earlier in the week, Green tried to downplay expectations ahead of the $600,000 event.
“It’s going to feel really quite sad when I don’t have a win, so (it’s) just keeping my expectations at a reasonable level and making sure I don’t get to ahead myself,” Green said.
“I’m sometimes a bit tough on myself, and when I play in Australia, I want perform my best and have my name on these trophies.
“I feel like I still have work to do this week. I still want to get my hands on this trophy (the Karrie Webb Cup).”
