Aussie boxing star Nikita Tszyu returns to the ring next Wednesday night in Newcastle, taking on unbeaten Spaniard Oscar Diaz in what looks set to be the toughest test of his career.
Just months on from his controversial fight with Australian boxing’s bad boy Michael Zerafa, “The Butcher” heads back to “Tszyu-castle” – this time against a world-ranked opponent who is looking to ruin the party.

“El Toro” has already made his intentions clear – not just to iron-out Tszyu in front of his home crowd, but to use the fight as a springboard toward a future showdown with brother Tim.
Elsewhere on the stacked No Limit card, Aussie rising star Callum Peters will square off with tough American middleweight Joeshon James in the co-main event — and the always exciting Kirra Ruston will throw down with Berkay Varol.

THE THREAT OF DIAZ
While Nikita Tszyu is known for his all-action, come-forward style, Oscar Diaz is seen as more of a calculated technician.
And despite being a couple of years younger than the Aussie southpaw, the Spaniard actually has more pro rounds under his belt, boasting a perfect 16-0 record.
Asked last week how he plans to handle The Butcher’s pressure and big left hand, Diaz was confident.
“I’m a boxer who adapts to every other boxer,” he said. “What I have over everyone is my mentality.”
WHAT’S BEEN SAID?
Tszyu has watched all available tape on Diaz and believes he will be a more difficult opponent than Zerafa.
“He’s tough, awkward,” Tszyu conceded.
“I’ve done study on him and expect my body to be sore after this.
“I can see a way around it, see a way to beat him. But I am expecting a hard fight as he seems tough.”
Diaz posted a clip to social media last week of himself whacking into a heavy bag before then turning to the camera and, calling Nikita out by name, dragging a thumb across his throat in an unmistakable gesture.
He has also said he is excited to be fighting against one of the famous Tszyu clan – but he’s not flying all the way from Spain to make up the numbers.
When questioned about Tim Tszyu’s fight with American superstar Errol Spence, he was blunt.
“It’s actually a fight that shouldn’t even happen because they’re both old – a fight for oldies,” Diaz said.
“I think [Tim Tszyu’s] career is on the way down, not out for boxing anymore.
“I’m coming to defeat Nikita and then I’m coming for Tim.”
