Sydney Sixers wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League, putting the Australian captain under an injury cloud ahead of next month’s ODI series against India.

On Saturday evening, the Sixers confirmed that Healy had sustained a left knee injury, prematurely ending her WBBL campaign with the ladies in magenta.
“She will continue with her rehabilitation over the coming fortnight under the care of CNSW and CA medical staff,” the Sixers said in a statement.
Teenager Frankie Nicklin has been chosen as Healy’s local replacement player, named in the Sixers’ 13-player squad for Sunday evening’s derby against the Sydney Thunder at Drummoyne Oval.
Meanwhile, the Sixers will also be without England spinner Sophie Ecclestone for the remainder of the tournament due to international commitments.
Healy didn’t don the gloves during Thursday’s 12-run loss to the Brisbane Heat at North Sydney Oval, swallowing two catches in the outfield. The 34-year-old missed the start of the WBBL after suffering a ruptured plantar fascia in her foot during the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, nursing the injury throughout the summer.
Australia is scheduled to play three ODIs against India next month, with the first match getting underway at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field on December 5. If Healy were unavailable for the series opener, vice-captain Tahlia McGrath would likely lead the team in her absence.
The Sixers are currently sixth on the WBBL ladder with three wins in seven matches.
