Ultimate guide to UFC 327: Full fight card and how to watch in Australia

UFC 327 hits Miami this Sunday (AEDT) with a blockbuster main event, as Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg square off for the vacant light heavyweight title.

With Alex Pereira moving up in weight, the division’s been blown wide open – and now two of the most dangerous blokes at 205 pounds will throw down for the crown.

PPV: UFC 327 Prochazka vs Ulberg | SUN 12 APRIL 11AM AEST | The UFC’s undisputed light heavyweight championship will be on the line, when Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg meet for the vacant title at UFC 327 | Order Now with Main Event on Kayo Sports.

LIVE COVERAGE: FOLLOW ALL THE ACTION LIVE

For Prochazka, it’s a chance to win back the belt that he won in 2022, armed with his all-action approach that’s made him one of the most exciting fighters in the entire sport.

But standing opposite is Ulberg, the red-hot Kiwi striker on a nine-fight tear, eyeing history and a chance to bring the strap to The Land of the Long White Cloud.

The co-main is exciting too, with unbeaten heavy-hitting Russian Azamat Murzakanov locking horns with Brazilian fan-favourite Paulo Costa in a scrap that could possibly decide the next title challenger.

Elsewhere, heavyweight banger Curtis Blaydes takes on unbeaten loudmouth Josh Hokit, while Dominick Reyes and Johnny Walker promise absolute fireworks in a fight that likely won’t need any judges to show up for.

HOW WILL THE MAIN EVENT PLAY OUT?

Ulberg summed it up perfectly to Fox Sports Australia earlier this week: chaos versus order.

Prochazka thrives in wild exchanges – often willing to wear a shot if it means landing something bigger in return.

And here’s the stat that says it all – Prochazka has only gone to the scorecards twice in 38 professional fights.

That makes the opening rounds crucial. Prochazka usually starts fast, looking to overwhelm with pressure, while Ulberg is more measured.

If the Kiwi can weather that early storm and keep the fight technical, he could begin to take over as the bout wears on.

WHAT’S BEEN SAID?

Both fighters have kept things very respectful in the lead-up, with no trash talk – but that hasn’t stopped them sizing each other up.

Each man believes he’s spotted holes in the other’s game – and both are predicting a finish on Sunday.

Jiri Prochazka says the matchup is exactly what he’s been looking for.

“From my side, from my point of view, this is the opponent that I really need,” Prochazka told UFC.com.

“Because he’s fast, he loves to move on the legs. Lots of left hands, checking the jab and hook, all these things. And this is what I like to have as an opponent.

“And these types of opponents, like Ulberg – I don’t want to say it, but it’s naturally in me – I see him as a really dangerous animal that I like to hunt.

“I have to be precise, I have to be really patient, I have to pay attention to all of his sharp weapons. Do not underestimate him, any action, every action, for 200 percent. So yeah, that’s why I like this matchup.”

Ulberg says Prochazka’s chaotic style will be his undoing.

“Order beats chaos when chaos puts himself in bad positions,” Ulberg told Fox Sports Australia.

“And order puts chaos in check.

“This is chess, not checkers.”

PREDICTIONS

Expert picks are leaning toward experience, with a large group of UFC voices backing Prochazka to get the job done on Sunday.

Michael Bisping, Din Thomas, Dustin Poirier and Michael Chiesa have all tipped the Czech samurai, pointing to his experience, durability and unique “X-factor” in chaotic exchanges.

However, there are a few fighters backing the upset, with Steve Garcia, Rashad Evans and BMF star Jorge Masvidal all leaning toward the Kiwi striker.

Ulberg showered with boos by fans! | 01:55

James Cooney: Ulberg via R3 TKO

I’m a massive fan of Jiri, but I think Ulberg’s range management, leg kicks (and particularly) check hook will be a real handful for the Czech star. Yes, Jiri has an incredible chin, but Ulberg has shown time and again how he handles opponents who rush in recklessly. I expect that pattern to continue this weekend.
