Victorian coach Chris Rogers stamped Tom Rogers’ one-handed screamer “one of the best I’ve ever seen live”.
Rogers’ stunning catch at cover was the start of a brilliant day for he and the Vics in their One Day Cup win over Queensland at the MCG.
Test No. 3 and Bulls captain Marnus Labuschagne doesn’t offer many opportunities at domestic level, but Rogers only needed a half chance to send him on his way.

Labuschagne crunched a full-blooded drive off the bowling of Austin Anlezark only for Rogers to soar to his left and hold onto a stunning one-hand catch.
Rogers nonchalantly threw the ball away and shook his hand as his Victorian teammates swarmed him in celebration.

Even more remarkably, despite batting left handed, Rogers took the catch in his non-dominant left hand.
The catch stunned on-lookers and brought the best out of domestic cricket caller Adam White.
“What a catch I can’t believe what I’ve just seen,” he said.
“Extraordinary from Rogers.
“Tom Rogers has just done that, if you don’t mind.”

The screamer earned high praise from his namesake and coach.
“What a catch, that was one of the best I’ve ever seen live,” coach Rogers said.
“When it’s off Labuschagne, it just adds that extra bit as well, it probably went a long way to us winning the game.
“That’s an opposite handed pluck out of the air that will stick one in 50, maybe, that was an unbelievable catch.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the best catch he ever takes in his life… I actually really liked his celebration, I actually thought that was not over the top but very cool.”
The catch and Todd Murphy’s 3-29 off 10 overs went a long way in the Vics dismissing the visitors for 215. Rogers played a key role again in the second innings, scoring 69 alongside Peter Handscomb (90 not out) to ensure a successful chase.
The top-order bat is enjoying a purple patch since the Big Bash League break, hitting a double century for the Vics Second XI in treacherous Adelaide heat last week.
Victorian and Queensland also face in a Sheffield Shield match later in the week, the first red-ball match at the iconic venue since the two-day Boxing Day Test debacle.
Another left-hander in Dylan Brasher will make his debut in that Shield match.
