A major blow for championship favourites the Sydney Kings, with forward Tyler Robertson set to miss the rest of the season following a high-grade AC joint injury sustained last Friday against the Brisbane Bullets.

The 25-year-old, who has been enjoying one of the finest campaigns of his career, will undergo surgery this week as he begins the long road to recovery.
Just 14 minutes into the match against the Brisbane Bullets, Robertson, who had been in fine form with 11 points and a perfect 3-from-3 from three-point range, collided with Bullets big man Callum Dalton. Robertson left the court clearly in discomfort, clutching his right shoulder, and did not return, heading straight to the locker room.
This news comes at a particularly difficult time for the Kings, who are well-positioned to contend for the 2025-2026 NBL championship.
In 27 games this season, Robertson has averaged 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists, while shooting an impressive 47.8% from three-point range. Beyond his stats, Robertson was also awarded the Sydney Kings Player’s Award, a recognition not only of his on-court performances but also of his leadership and influence in the locker room.
Head Coach Brian Goorjian spoke on the team’s support for Robertson, emphasising the group’s focus on his recovery.
“Tyler has had an outstanding season, and this is obviously tough news for him and for our group,” Goorjian said.
“He’s stepped up every time we’ve needed him and his growth this year has been significant. One of our strengths all season has been our depth, and while we’d love to have Tyler out there with us, we have great belief in this group and our ability to perform heading into the finals. Our focus now is supporting Tyler through his recovery and having him ready for the future.”
To fill the void, the Kings have confirmed that Lueth Awan will step into Robertson’s spot in the line-up, as the team aims to maintain its momentum in the title race.
The Kings will play Game 1 of their semi-final series at Qudos Bank Arena on Wednesday, 11 March, against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
