The Stars have delivered a “disastrous” batting display and have been dismissed for 101 on home soil against the Scorchers.
Only four players reached double figures with Hilton Cartwright top scoring with a lowly 24 from 18 balls.
Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers, delivering figures of 3/28 from his four sets with one maiden.

Meanwhile, spinner Hamish KcKenzie was also impressive and bagged his first two BBL wickets in successive balls.
“Just disastrous for the Melbourne Stars,” commentator Anthony Hudson said.
Stars opener Tom Rogers was also very nearly gifted a life, but a bobbling catch from Stephen Ezkinazi sent him packing.
The Melbourne batsmen belted a Cooper Connolly delivery straight at cover, who juggled it three times before securing the catch.
He was the third wicket for the Perth side within the first 10 overs at the MCG.
“More difficult than it should have been but he takes the catch,” Anthony Hudson said.
“Made it look hard,” Brett Lee added.
