Tigers throw last-minute Pick 1 curveball as bidding frenzy takes over top 10 — AFLW Draft LIVE

Richmond threw a late draft curveball, taking tall forward Olivia Wolmarans with Pick 1 in the 2025 AFLW draft.

Over 50 players are expected to be taken at tonight’s AFLW draft, which is underway live and exclusive on Fox Footy.

Having been linked with Northern Knights winger Scarlett Johnson, the Tigers instead opted for the Subiaco product Wolmarans, with GWS then pouncing on Johnson at Pick 2.

Sydney chose not to match a bid for its academy product Kiera Yerbury at Pick 3, allowing her to join cross-town rivals GWS.

Gold Coast’s Academy products began to take over the first round from there, with the Suns matching bids on five players in the top 13, led by Sunny Lappin at Pick 4 – the daughter of former All-Australian Matthew Lappin.
