Injured Storm star Cameron Munster has given fans an hilarious insight into a tense Melbourne coaching box and the reaction of Craig Bellamy moments after Xavier Coates’ incredible game-winning try against the Warriors.
Munster is battling with a groin injury, with a return not likely until Round 5. In the meantime, the star pivot has been sitting with Bellamy and the Storm coaching staff during games.
The Storm were trailing the Warriors 26-18 with just over three minutes remaining but somehow pulled off a comeback for the ages thanks to two late tries, with the one of the best in NRL history saved for the final 30 seconds of the game.

Speaking on the Clubhouse podcast with Storm teammates Ryan Papenhuyzen and Jahrome Hughes, Munster revealed just what went down in the Storm box when Coates pulled off the impossible.
“I had Bellyache (Bellamy) in the box grabbing everyone and going, ‘you f***ing beauty!’” Munster said.
Hughes then asked Munster if Bellamy thought it was a try because of – as the halfback puts it – his coach’s “glass half full” nature.
“How was he when X (Coates) scored? Obviously that second half he would have been blowing steam because we were going so terribly,” Hughes said.
“How was he? Did he believe? I feel like he’s a glass half empty kind of guy.”
“It was actually hilarious because when X scored he’s like, ‘Is it a try? Is it a try?’, while he’s pacing up the back,” Munster said.
“And I said to him, I think it (the ball) may be simultaneous with his hand and he goes, ‘What the f**k does that mean?’, so I was like what do you mean?
“Then he said, ‘What does that mean Munster?’, so I said mate it means it could be 50/50. It could be him with his hand on the ground and the ball hitting the line at the same time, so he was like, ‘Oh don’t tell me that.’”

Munster said even after one of the Storm coaching staff tole Bellamy it was a try, the legendary coach couldn’t relax until it was confirmed by the referee.
“He still wouldn’t have believed until the ref blew his whistle,” Hughes said.
“Yeah he didn’t believe it,” Munster confirmed.
“You boys have done really well to win for Bellyache otherwise he would have needed a new pacemaker.”
Hughes and Papenhuyzen were both interviewed by Fox League after the dramatic ending, praising Coates and revealing those sort of finishes were part of the winger’s weekly practice routine.
Even with the dust having settled though, Papenhuyzen admitted he still can’t believe Coates’ special feat.
“It is hard to sum it up in words… I actually can’t quite comprehend how he did it,” the Storm fullback said.
