In a big blow to Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters, superstar Latrell Mitchell will reportedly withdraw from selection for this year’s Ashes tour.
That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting Mitchell’s back and neck injury requires him to avoid contact training for at least four weeks.
Mitchell has been sidelined with that injury since Round 23, having managed only 11 games for South Sydney in a disappointing campaign.

The superstar fullback will also miss out on the Koori Knockout in Tamworth in three weeks, joining a long-list of potential centres who are now unavailable for Kangaroos selection.
Robert Toia has opted to represent Tonga, while Stephen Crichton plays for Samoa, with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow also out injured after a fresh MCL injury.
Valentine Holmes also won’t take part due to a shoulder injury that ended his season prematurely, leaving a handful of players to contend for the pair of centre spots.

Broncos stars Kotoni Staggs and Gehamat Shibasaki are both reportedly on Walters’ radar, while Tom Trbojevic and Bradman Best are also contenders.
Walters will select a 22-player squad to travel to England, which will likely include three players in the specialist position.
