There’s fears for Tim David’s T20 World Cup campaign after the Australian star suffered a hamstring injury while playing in the Big Bash League.
David is set for scans on Saturday after pulling up lame while batting in Hobart’s four-wicket win over the Scorchers in their Boxing Day night clash.

Despite downplaying his injury post-match, David’s BBL campaign for the Hurricanes could now be over.
“Just felt a little bit of something when I was trying to come back for two,” David shared on 7Sport.
“Not ideal, but didn’t want to make it worse.
“We’ll wait and see (how bad it is)”
The Hurricanes star took no further part in the match after immediately signalling for assistance and coming from the field.
“As a mate … I’m shattered he potentially might miss a few games for the Hurricanes,” Hobart skipper Nathan Ellis said post-win.
“I’m hopeful that we’ll do all the right things and hopefully potentially get him right for the back end of the tournament.”
While reigning champions Hobart now sit equal top of the BBL ladder off the back of their third win of the season, the likely loss of David could hurt their title chances.
Given the BBL final is just four weeks away, David is now in a race to prove his fitness should Hobart qualify.

And from there, Australia’s T20 World Cup looms large with their first match scheduled in just six weeks’ time.
“He’s OK – Tim takes everything in his stride,” Ellis said.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t say there’s a few of us with one eye on the World Cup as well.
“He’s a huge figure in the Australian cricket team. He’s been batting four and dominating.
“Fingers crossed it’s not too bad and we get him a few games in purple before then.
“Tim David is one of the better players in the world.”
David’s injury had soured what was a brilliant win for Hobart in front of a record 42,620 strong crowd at Perth Stadium with three balls to spare.
“Probably one of the more proud moments for me as captain of this team,” Ellis said after the win.
“It’s always a tough road trip.
“We fly Christmas night, coaching staff flew today … We had this in the calendar as a hurdle or a challenge.
“Personally … I can’t remember winning here as a Hurricane.

“You add the fair bit of travel we’ve had at the start of the tournament, the Christmas travel – we haven’t trained since the last game.
“So do that (the win) … it’s a really good one for us moving forward.”
While there’s concern for David’s health, Ellis believes Hobart will regain veteran Matt Wade who missed the trip to Perth.
“He pulled up a little lame after the Renegades game,” Ellis shared.
“It was a bit too much of an ask with the Christmas night flight and an old body.
“He’ll be ready to go for the next game.”
Hobart now head home for games against Melbourne Renegades and the Scorchers in the space of three days, starting on December 29.
