NRLW star Maddie Studdon could reverse her pleas after previously denying threatening her former partner, a court has been told.
The former NSW skipper and Australian Test representative faced Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, a week after she was arrested and spent a night behind bars on remand.
Ms Studdon was released on bail last week after being arrested on a domestic-violence related charge relating to a series of incidents earlier this month in the wake of the breakdown of her relationship.
She was arrested after she allegedly turned up outside her former partner’s home last week and allegedly made a threatening gesture.
She has been charged with stalk/intimidation with the intention to cause fear of physical harm (DV) and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
She was represented in court on Wednesday by her new lawyer David Newham.
She previously entered pleas of not guilty, but Mr Newham asked for an adjournment to “consider our position”.
Magistrate Karen Stafford set the matter down for a possible plea traversal, the court was told.
Mr Newman also told the court that the complainant had contacted Ms Studdon.
Ms Studdon was flanked by several supporters at the Downing Centre on Wednesday and will return to court in two weeks.
Ms Studdon was granted bail when she appeared in court last week on a number of conditions including that she not contact the complainant, not use social media and not consume illicit drugs and alcohol.
Ms Studdon has previously played for the Sydney Roosters, St George Illawarra, Parramatta and Cronulla.
She played for the Dragons last season but is without a club for the 2026 NRLW season.
