LIVE: Twist in BBL finals as wet weather wreaks havoc… and what it would mean for KO clash

Ben McDermott and the Hobart Hurricanes host Marcus Stoinis and the Melbourne Stars in a blockbuster Knockout final at Ninja Stadium.

In a twist, bad weather in Hobart could affect the match with a current temperature of 14 degrees with a 69 per cent chance of rain.

The winner will face the Sydney Sixers for a spot in the final against the Perth Scorchers, while the loser will start planning for next season.

Should the game be rained out, the Hurricanes would progress as the higher-ranked team.

The Hurricanes are coming off a last start loss to the Heat, which cost them top spot on the table, while the Stars were thrashed by the Scorchers to also give up top spot.

Test star Beau Webster will be a trump card for the Hurricanes in the finals, while the Stars have no players returning from national duties.

Mitch Owen and Ben McDermott will be the danger men with the bat for the Hurricanes, while Rishad Hossain and Chris Jordan have been amongst the wickets.

They will be without skipper Nathan Ellis, who Owen told Fox Cricket is “day to day” after injuring himself in their final match of the regular season.

For the Stars Sam Harper and Stoinis will lead the charge with the bat, while we are still waiting for Glenn Maxwell to live up to his name as The Big Show.

Evergreen paceman Peter Siddle and Harris Rauf will be the danger men with the ball for the visitors.

The Hurricanes are looking to win back-to-back titles after being crowned champions in BBL14, while the Stars are the only side yet to win a BBL title and will be desperate to advance.

It sets the scene for a mouth-watering do or die clash in Hobart with no tomorrow for the loser.
