The Queen of Spin, Alana King, has done it again.
Although this time, she’s not only pulled off an Australian record, but also the best-ever Women’s World Cup figures.
King on Saturday ripped through South Africa, taking a barely believable 7-18 to help the Aussies bowl their opponents out for just 97 in their final group game of the 50-over World Cup at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

The leg-spinner’s 7-18 were the best bowling figures in Women’s World Cup history.
Not only that, it was the best bowling performance by an Australian in a women’s ODI.
At one stage, King had taken 4-0 from her first 15 deliveries after removing Sune Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Annerie Dercksen and Chloe Tryon in quick succession.
After conceding three fours in her next five deliveries, King dismissed Sinalo Jafta, Masabata Klaas and finally Nadine de Klerk — all bowled — as South Africa crumbled to a second total of under 100 for the tournament.
Megan Schutt, Kim Garth and Ash Gardner picked up the other wickets for Australia.
The reigning champions made light work of the run chase, reeling in the 98-run target in 16.5 overs for the loss of just three wickets to seal top spot on the World Cup standings. Opener Georgia Voll thumped an unbeaten 38, while Beth Mooney struck a 41-ball 42.
It was Australia’s sixth win in seven matches during group, with the other game abandoned due to rain.
Seven-time winners Australia will face co-hosts India in the semi-finals.
