Ahead of the opening of free agency on Friday, Giants ruckman Matt Flynn is set to join West Coast, while Adelaide defender Tom Doedee has officially nominated Brisbane as his new home for 2024.
Multiple reports on Wednesday confirmed Flynn, 26, has decided to move west to the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent.
Flynn has played 33 AFL games since joining GWS with Pick 41 in the 2015 National Draft. It includes him making just nine appearances under Adam Kingsley in 2023 after Kieren Briggs took over the No. 1 ruck role.

But with Nic Naitanui retiring and Bailey Williams filling West Coast’s ruck void in a horror season for the 18th-placed club, there’s a path for Flynn to become Adam Simpson’s preferred option in the role next year.
It comes after it was confirmed Doedee has decided on the Lions amid interest from fellow grand finalist Collingwood.
As Doedee is a restricted free agent, the Crows have the right to match any rival offer, though they’d receive a compensation pick for his departure.

While Doedee will miss a key chunk of next season as he rehabs an ACL injury sustained in Round 12, it remains a huge coup for Chris Fagan to round an improved defence led by Harris Andrews and Jack Payne.
It continues to a strong recruiting spree from the Lions, too, having added Josh Dunkley, Will Ashcroft, Jack Gunston and Conor McKenna last off-season.
The 26-year old has played 82 games for Adelaide since making his debut in 2018, where he finished runner-up to then Collingwood’s Jaidyn Stephenson in the Rising Star Award.
