Strikers captain Tahlia McGrath (4-13) demolished the Hurricanes’ tail to give her side some relief from their championship hangover as they claimed a second win in eight games this season.
The home side was reduced to 4-45 after eight overs following dual strikes for wrist spinner Amy Smith (3-18) and Scottish import Kathryn Bryce (2-26).
But the Hurricanes lost their grip on the game as Madeline Penna smashed 60 from 40 deliveries to steer the Strikers to a competitive 7-140 at the Adelaide Oval.
It was Penna’s second half-century in three innings as the young all-rounder continued to build an impressive resume in the middle order.

If the Strikers were scarred from Lizelle Lee’s brutal 103 on Wednesday, they didn’t let it show, as keeper Bridget Patterson held onto a chance to have the South African removed for eight as she charged down the wicket at Orla Prendergast but got an outside edge.
Ellyse Villani (44 off 39) was valiant for the Hurricanes but Megan Schutt removed her to complete an impressive spell of 2-14 from three overs before McGrath demolished the tail.
