It’s a good time to be Michael Bakari Jordan. Having won an Oscar for his performance(s) in ‘Sinners’, he’s been courted for a variety of high profile projects, including a new cinematic take on ‘Miami Vice’, which has now announced its title (‘Miami Vice ’85’) and locked in an August 2027 release date.
There is another on the horizon as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Jordan will team up with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie (who has spent the last few years in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ world) to adapt video game ‘Battlefield’.

The combo of MBJ and McQ has created a package that has studios and streamers salivating, with a bidding competition already kicking off. The aim is for Jordan to produce and potentially star while McQuarrie writes and directs.

What’s the story of ‘Battlefield’?

‘Battlefield’ first launched in 2002 as a World War Two game titled ‘Battlefield 1942.’ Over the next two decades, the games became more ambitious and elaborate, set in various time periods, even the future.
‘Battlefield 6,’ the latest of the series, was released last year and was set about two years into the future and featured a splintered NATO as one of the sides fighting. Reportedly one of the most expensive games ever made, it became not only the biggest seller in the franchise’s history but the top game of 2025, finally eclipsing ‘Call of Duty’.
Where else can we see Michael B. Jordan?
Jordan has been busy of late directing and starring in a new adaptation of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’; that movie is due in March next year. Also on his to-do list? The aforementioned ‘Miami Vice ’85’ (alongside Austin Butler) and a fourth ‘Creed’ outing.
