DAY 7 PREVIEW
Dangerous heat has arrived in Melbourne forcing the Australian Open to reschedule matches on Saturday.
What was expected to be another record-setting day at Melbourne Park, after over 100,000 people flocked to the tournament on multiple days during the week, may be impacted with a predicted top of 40 degrees.
As a precaution matches were rescheduled with gates opening at 9am, play beginning at 10am on the outside courts, and then at 10:30am on the show courts.
An extra women’s match has been scheduled for Margaret Court Arena in the day session to try and avoid the peak temperatures in the evening.

Under the Australian Open Heat Stress scale factors including radiant heat, air temperature, humidity and wind speed will all be measured to determine whether play must be halted.
On day two of the 2023 tournament, play on the outside courts stopped at around 2pm when temperatures reached 35 degrees.
Roofs will be closed on the main three courts if required and fans have been warned to take extra precautions.
