  • A ‘Fast & Furious’ TV spin-off is in the works.
  • Vin Diesel claims more are on the way.
  • Any show would be for streaming service Peacock.

We might be staring down the road towards the end of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movie franchise (at least, the main one –– this is one cash cow unlikely to stop being milked for a while), plans are on the starting grid to bring the story to live-action TV (an animated spin-off, ‘Fast & Furious Spy Racers’ debuted on Netflix in 2019).

Speaking at the NBCUniversal Upfront (where the company pitched its upcoming wares to advertisers), ‘Fast’ frontman Vin Diesel made a bold claim that four TV series based on the movies are in the works.

The Fast and the Furious

“If you have what it takes, you can have it all.”

Release Date: Jun 22, 2001

Run Time: 1 hr 46 min

Budget: $38,000,000

Here’s what he had to say:

“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that [Jimmy] Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe.”

Most trade site sources are pointing to just one ‘Fast’ show in development for now, but you’ve got to admire Vin’s moxie in trying to push the idea of more.

Mike Daniels (‘Sons of Anarchy’) and Wolfe Coleman (‘Shades of Blue’) will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers in addition to writing the pilot. No plot details are available yet.

When will the next ‘Fast & Furious’ movie be on screens?

After some delays, the new entry, ‘Fast Forever’ is scheduled to drive up in March 2028.
