The Magpies have suffered a double-blow on the eve of Gather Round, losing Jordan De Goey and Lachie Schultz due to injuries.
De Goey was subbed out of Collingwood’s Round 4 win over Carlton — initially believed to be tactical — before it was revealed on Monday he’d be sidelined because of ankle and Achilles inflammation.
The Pies will assess their midfield-forward weapon ahead of a Round 6 fixture with Brisbane, but he will miss at least their trip to Adelaide to play Sydney.

The 29-year-old kicked two goals from eight disposals in 62 per cent game-time against the Blues.
“Jordan De Goey will be ruled out of Collingwood’s Round 5 match against the Sydney Swans on Friday night as he recovers from right ankle and Achillies inflammation,” a club communication read.
“The midfielder was subbed off in the final term of the side’s Round 4 match against Carlton after experiencing soreness. De Goey will be assessed leading into the side’s Round 6 match against Brisbane.”
Meantime, Schultz succumbed to a hamstring injury during a Sunday training session and is expected to miss a slightly longer period than De Goey.
“Lachie Schultz will be sidelined for Friday night’s game after scans revealed the forward sustained a minor hamstring strain during the side’s training session on Sunday afternoon,” the Pies announced.
“Schultz is expected to spend two to three weeks on the sidelines.”
The 27-year-old had one of his best games in Collingwood colours against Carlton, booting two goals along with 18 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles and a game-high nine score involvements.
The Pies’ two-pronged setback comes after Dan Houston was suspended two matches for a bump on Carlton’s Lachie Fogarty, which the club accepted.
