Fremantle’s star midfield duo left it all out there, while the stocks of two rising star’s continue to rise.

But it was ultimately a brutal end to the Dockers’ season after Gold Coast pipped them by a point in a heartbreaker.

We rate every Fremantle player out of 10 from their elimination final vs Gold Coast.

2. Jaeger O’Meara

Rarely sighted on the night in a wing role. 2

3. Caleb Serong

Nothing more this man could’ve done. Serong relished the September stage, racking up game-highs in disposals (35), contested possessions (21) and clearances (13), The three-time All-Australian midfielder also had nine tackles and 702 metres gained — both the second-most of any player — in a dominant performance. Simply brilliant all night leading Fremantle’s engine room with Andrew Brayshaw. 8

4. Sean Darcy

One of the better Dockers in the loss who can hold his head high. Was busy in the clinches throwing his weight around. 6

5. Heath Chapman

Solid enough showing from the honest defender who did his job. Consistently makes the right decisions. 5

6. Jordan Clark

Not the All-Australian halfback’s usual impact, but still had a good crack, finishing with 20 disposals. A huge spoil running back with the flight in the second term as good a defensive play as you’ll see. 6

7. Nat Fyfe (sub)

The retired champ came on early in the fourth quarter and had some good moments in his final hurrah. Loud cheers from the home crowd when Fyfe first ran on and when he got his first disposal. A big mark in the last five minutes too. Unlike David Swallow (at least on Saturday night), didn’t get the fairytale ending. Bravo on a legendary career, ‘Fyfey’. 3

8. Andrew Brayshaw

Like Serong, was enormous as the heartbeat of the Dockers midfield. Notched 32 disposals and a team-high nine score involvements. Set up two important goals to Isaiah Dudley in the third term to get Freo back in the game. Left it all out there. 8

9. Luke Jackson

A HUGE mark and goal in the final three minutes to give Freo the lead, which felt like the match winner. But not to be. A good night from Jackson that could’ve been great if he clunked a few more grabs. Always in the cut and thrust of the contest and brought great pressure. A unicorn who thrived under the finals heat. 7

13. Luke Ryan

Got the most ball of any Docker in the defensive half with 23 disposals and seven marks. Battled hard all night in a back six that was constantly under pressure. 6

15. Shai Bolton

An almost game from the star recruit. Finally kicked his first goal in the fourth quarter after being consistently in dangerous spots throughout the night but unable to capitalise. 5

16. Murphy Reid

A promising finals debut from the first-year Docker and Rising Star favourite with some classy moments. Was Fremantle’s most likely forward at times. One goal from 20 touches (11 contested). Going to be a star, if he isn’t already. 7

20. Patrick Voss

Fremantle’s leading goalkicker with three and the team’s fire starter. Kicked the first goal of the match and got the crowd serious pumped up. “He’s an excitement machine,” Jordan Lewis said. 7

23. Karl Worner

Solid enough in defence with plenty of ball coming back there. 5

24. Jye Amiss

Not his night. Was forced from the ground in the first term for medical treatment with a foot issue. Subbed out early in the fourth term with one goal from two disposals. 1

25. Alex Pearce

A defensive juggernaut in the fourth quarter with multiple intercept marks in showing great will to win. The skipper finished with 10 intercepts — the equal second-most of any player. 6

26. Hayden Young

A massive fourth quarter with 11 touches to try and drag Fremantle over the line. While it was a strong enough performance from Young with 28 disposals, the gun on-baller couldn’t quite get his usual run and carry game going. 7

28. Neil Erasmus

Stocks rising. Playing in his first final, Erasmus continued his career-best form of recent weeks and looked up to it on the September stage. Recorded 18 disposals and six tackles and kicked a goal. Starting to come on. 6

30. Nathan O’Driscoll

Strong start to the game but faded as it went on. 3

32. Michael Frederick

A rough night for the forward, who was rarely sighted. A costly missed goal with a skidding kick late in the first quarter from near on point-blank range. Appeared to take on the Sam Switkowski role of moving further up the ground, but just couldn’t impact for the most part. 2

35. Josh Treacy

Got better as the game went on, finishing with two goals and an equal game-high four contested marks after being a non-factor in the first half. A huge goal in the fourth quarter to get Fremantle within a point. Did his job. 6

36. Brennan Cox

Shut down a goalless Ben King, so a tick for that. 6

41. Bailey Banfield

After playing his role for the most part, Banfield had one horror moment in the fourth quarter with a missed spoil that landed right in Jy Farrar’s hands for a critical Suns goal. 4

43. Isaiah Dudley

Kicked two important goals to keep Fremantle alive in the third quarter — both assisted from Andrew Brayshaw — to save his night after very little impact otherwise. 5
