AFL deadline day LIVE: 17 players who could still move as busy Bulldogs face up to five deals

It’s AFL trade period deadline day.

And that means a bunch of deals are still up in the air… and some won’t get done.

6AM – DOG DAY AFTERNOON LOOMS AS BULLDOGS CENTRAL TO CRUNCH NEGOTIATIONS

The Western Bulldogs are set to be the busiest on the final day of the AFL trade period with up to four moves looming.

Geelong’s hardball tactics will see Bailey Smith’s fait accompli move to the Cattery waiting until the final hours, with the 2022 premiers only offering pick 17 for the midfielder but Luke Beveridge’s club wanting an earlier pick or a sweetener added.

He’s not the only Bulldogs midfielder who could move with Jack Macrae looking to join St Kilda, and that deal appears likely after St Kilda split pick 27 into selections 32 and 45 on Tuesday, giving them more options to send west.

Less likely is Caleb Daniel’s hope of joining North Melbourne, with the Bulldogs holding firm having been offered pick 25 in exchange for Daniel and 48.

Finally the Dogs have hoped to land GWS midfielder Xavier O’Halloran on a three-year contract but the Giants have rebuffed all offers thus far, while they’ve also been linked late in the process to Carlton’s Matt Kennedy.

Notable trades left on the table include:

– Tom Barrass from West Coast to Hawthorn;

– Shai Bolton from Richmond to Fremantle;

– Daniel Rioli from Richmond to Gold Coast;

– Luke Parker from Sydney to North Melbourne;

– Jake Stringer from Essendon to GWS;

– James Peatling from GWS to Adelaide.

Other players who could still move include Deven Robertson, Tim Membrey, Dylan Shiel, Wade Derksen, Ben Paton and if a true bombshell drops, Clayton Oliver.
