The World Club Challenge is back in 2026, with the Brisbane Broncos beginning the preparation for their NRL premiership defence as they face Super League champions Hull KR — and Fox League is the only place you can watch all of the action.

The game will be live and exclusive on Fox League at 6.30am on Friday February 20, coinciding with the NRL’s pre-season challenge which gets underway on February 7 with a double header at Jubilee Oval.
Once again, Fox League is the only place to watch every game of the NRL pre-season live and ad-break free and while Brisbane won’t be competing in this year’s pre-season challenge, the defending premiers will be looking to become the first NRL team to win the World Club Challenge since 2020.

Four-time premiers Penrith lost games to Wigan Warriors and St Helens while the 2021 and 2022 World Club Challenge games were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Panthers, meanwhile, withdrew from last year’s edition.
This time around, Hull KR has already announced MKM Stadium is sold-out, with Broncos coach Michael Maguire declaring he is “very motivated” to bring the World Club trophy home.
“It’s a very special opportunity to take a group of players and staff across to the other side of the world to take on the Super League champions,” Maguire said.
“Travelling and sharing this experience together will only build a stronger connection between the group and that will prepare us for what’s ahead in 2026.
“As a club, we are very motivated to bring the World Club trophy home to Brisbane, just like we did with the NRL and NRLW Premierships.”
The Hull KR premiership-winning team has plenty of familiar names for NRL fans, headlined by former Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
“The big fella has got into me enough when I was a kid from the Chooks so if he runs into us I’m sure we’ll be in for it,” Broncos captain Pat Carrigan told Kayo Sports during the dinner break in the second Ashes Test at the Gabba.
“I’m excited. I just got back from England. I just got a taste of the Poms so it’ll be good to go over there and get stuck into them.”
