Australia’s Jack Doohan is officially gone from Alpine, bringing an end to his turbulent and brief stint in Formula 1 – for now, at least.
The 22-year-old was dumped by the French team after just seven races, a late 2024 audition plus the first six weekends of 2025, failing to score a point.

His replacement Franco Colapinto also failed to score a point but has lucrative financial backing.
The axing made it clear Doohan did not have an F1 future with Alpine and while serving in the reserve driver role, he sought other options.
“BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities,” the team said in a statement.
“Jack became the first member of the Alpine Academy to graduate into a race seat with the team when he made his Grand Prix debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“The team would like to thank Jack for his commitment and professionalism to the team for the past four years, both on and off track, and wishes him all the best for the future.”
That in turn could see him link up with Haas, who gave Toyota endurance and GT racing driver Ryo Hirakawa several practice sessions over the 2025 F1 season, and has a technical partnership with the brand.
Doohan is the son of five-time MotoGP world champion Mick.
