Former Broncos flyer David Mead has been caught up in a terrifying home invasion, stopping two masked intruders in their tracks and chasing them off in nothing but his underwear.
Mead, his wife Taneal and their two young sons were asleep in bed at their East Brisbane home in the early hours of Tuesday morning when they were woken up by what they described as strange sounds.
At around 1.40am, Mead leapt out of bed and rushed downstairs, sending the intruders scurrying away.

In a video shared to Instagram, Mead is seen in his undies and can be heard saying, “what the f***”.
The would-be thieves are then seen quickly bolting down a small path before jumping a fence as Mead opens the gate and chases them.
The PNG international chased them as far as he could before the two masked men hopped into getaway cars and drove off.
Speaking about the ordeal, Mead told Code Sports it was a frightening experience.
“We were asleep and heard something click, which after reviewing the video was the louvres next to the door. Taneal woke up and said ‘I think someone is in the house’. I heard the door knob turn and then it clicked. I knew straight away someone was in the house,” Mead said.

“I jumped out of bed and went around the corner, I saw the door closing and a shadow running. There’s 18 stairs and I jumped most of them and tripped at the end.
“ … You watch videos and think about what you would do – but it’s very different when it happens to you. Your instinct kicks in and your body just takes over. I was in my jocks.
“I’ve got two boys, six and ten, which is the scary part. I’m just glad no-one got hurt. If you hurt them, you can go to jail, or they could badly hurt you.
The 37-year-old played 230 first-grade games for the Titans, Broncos and Catalans Dragons in an illustrious rugby league career before retiring in 2022.
